Philadelphia’s hustling Red Arrow Lines needed new equipment at the end of the 1940's and fourteen specially designed double-enders were ordered from the St.-Louis Car Co. in 1949 and numbered 11-24. These had a PCC-styled body and were mounted on high-speed suburban trucks. They were a durable product despite their light construction and ran on two remaining routes to Media and Sharon Hill (West Chester branch was closed in 1954 and Ardmore branch in 1966) until the arrival of new LRV vehicles in 1981.
