In 1945 San Francisco Municipal Railways planned to buy 217 PCC cars, but these plans were trimmed in the face of a more pressing need to replace the decaying Market Street Railway fleet with buses and trolley coaches. In June of 1946 MUNI placed the order for ten double-end PCC cars with St.Louis Car Co. The new cars were delivered in July-August 1948. Available by Special Order for early 2010 delivery. |
